Roberts Batson's solo performance that brings to life the history and characters that helped shape the story of New Orleans based on his Scandal Tours. Tickets $20. ANYTHING GOES. Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carré, 616 St. Peter St., 522-9958. Classic Broadway musical comedy by Cole Porter set aboard a cruise ship with adventures of passengers that include a female nightclub singer and a group of British and American aristocrats. Derek Franklin and Sonny Borey direct Karen Hebert, Jimmy Murphy and others. Tickets $26 adults, $16 students. Performances 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, through Sept. 29.

THE BLACK AND WHITE BLUES. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. A musical comedy documenting the cuisine culture of New Orleans, told from the viewpoint of waiters and waitresses. Writer Ricky Graham directs Russell Hodgkinson, Jorindas Junius and others. Tickets $23, Mondays $18.50. Performances 7:30 p.m. Monday, 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, through Sept. 28.

BONES. Contemporary Arts Center, Freeport McMoRan Theatre, 900 Camp St., 528-3800. New original play by local writer Robert Florence, based on his real-life experiences working in a pet graveyard, revolving around the eccentric behavior of workers and patrons at the Royal Wedding Pet Cemetery. John Grimsley directs Harold Evans, Adella Gauthier, Jennifer Pagan and Antonio Paone. Tickets $12. Performances 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, through Sept. 15.

COLD READ. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. "Theater for writers" continues with Two in the Bush by Kevin Allman, one of Le Chat Noir's One Act Play competition-winning playwrights. Read by local actors, the work is a satire on higher education. Free admission, one drink minimum. Performance 6 p.m. Wednesday

CRAZY FOR YOU. Rivertown Repertory Theatre, 325 Minor St., Kenner, 468-7221. Classic musical with score composed by George Gershwin with story of 1930s socialite and ladies man Bobby Child striving to reach goal of becoming a dancer against the wishes of his mom and wife. Alton Geno directs Gary Rucker, Kelly Hirling Fouchi and Lorin Moore. Tickets $22 adults, $20 seniors and students, and $12 children ages 6 to 12; a pre-performance buffet catered by Messina's $16. Cabaret performance with Phil Melancon singing Perry Como's hits, including "Catch a Falling Star," "Sing for Me" and "Round and Round." GALATOIRE'S MONOLOGUES. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. Columnist Chris Rose leads readings by local personalities of more than 150 letters responding to the firing of one of Galatoire's old-line waiters. Sold out. Performance 7 p.m. Sunday.

THE KING AND I. Slidell Little Theatre, 2024 Nellie Drive, Slidell, (985) 641-0324. Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical about the culture clash when leading lady Anna meets the King of Siam. ROMEO AND JULIET. W Hotel, Bacco courtyard, 316 Chartres St., 522-2426. Hotel's courtyard holds new twists on Shakespeare classic performed with colonial Mexican wardrobes and interactive performance that moves the audience around the property. Directed and performed by Mikko Presents theater troupe. Tickets $15, includes hors d'oeuvres from Bacco, or $30 for hors d'oeuvres plus two-course meal and glass of wine. Performances 7 p.m. Monday, through Sept. 23.

THE ZOO STORY. Mama's Blues, 616 N. Rampart St., 864-0357. Edward Albee's 1959 play about a drifter who plots his own murder is considered the mother of American absurdist drama.
