Roberts Batson's solo performance that brings to life the history and characters that helped shape the story of New Orleans based on his Scandal Tours. Tickets $20. THE BLACK AND WHITE BLUES. The North Star Theatre, 347 Gerard St., Mandeville, (985) 626-1500. A musical comedy documenting the cuisine culture of New Orleans, told from the viewpoint of waiters and waitresses. Writer Ricky Graham directs Russell Hodgkinson, Heidi P. Junius and others. COLD READ. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. "Theater for writers" with two-act performance of Christy Soto's Good Enough Girl, about one woman's years spent in a bar. Free admission, one drink minimum. Performance 6 p.m. Wednesday.

DREAMGIRLS. Delgado Community College, City Park Campus, Drama Hall, third floor, 483-4817. Delgado's Theatre Department presentation of Tom Eyen and Henry Krieger's Tony Award-winning play about the American dream as seen in trying to make it big in show biz. Chris Rose's comedic look into the controversy following in the wake of Galatoire's firing of a revered, old-line waiter with reading of letters submitted to welovegilberto.com. LATE NIGHT CATECHISM. Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carré, Directors Studio, 616 St. Peter St., 522-2081. The "Sister" teaches an adult catechism class and alternately rewards and chastises her students. Amanda Hebert stars. Tickets $26. Call box office for show times. Open run.

Tony Award-winning Broadway musical by Meredith Wilson about the charismatic Harold Hill working to build the River City, Iowa, community dream of a brass band. Susan Stroman directs. PETER PAN. Jefferson Performing Arts Center, 400 Phlox St., Metairie, 885-2000. Classic musical set in Never-Never Land with characters Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Tinker Bell and others. Dennis G. Assaf conducts Jefferson Performing Arts Society Symphony Orchestra, stage direction by "Uncle Wayne" Daigrepont, choreography and costume design by Stephen G. Thurber. PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE. Skyfire Theatre, 332 N. New Hampshire St., Covington, (985) 875-7577. Steve Martin's comedy takes place on the chance meeting of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a 1904 cafe in Paris. Deborah Bettelli directs Shawn Patterson and Scott DeVore. POLITICS WITH A PUNCH. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. Round-table discussion of local politics hosted by Jeff Crouere with this month's guest panelists Chris Owens, City Councilman Jay Batt, political analyst Susan Howell and comedian Mike Strecker. Tickets $21. 7 p.m. Monday.

THE QUEEN OF BINGO. True Brew Theater, 200 Julia St., 362-4451. Comedy about two sisters who play bingo to make up for what is missing from their lives. Dane Rhodes directs Becky Allen, Sandy Bravender, Doris Methe and Michael Sullivan. Tickets $24. Performances 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, extended through November.

THE RITZ. Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carré, 616 St. Peter St., 522-9958. Broadway musical farce created out of forced cohabitation of a men's bathhouse by characters including a Puerto Rican lounge singer, a mobster, garbageman and a private eye. Ricky Graham directs Rene Piazza, Dane Rhodes, Renee Maxwell, Patrick Mendelson, Kyle Daigrepont, Rusty Tennant, Michael Salinas and Matthew Mickal. Tickets $21 adults, $16 students. Performances 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, through Nov. 24.

SHAKESPEARE ON TRIAL. Le Chat Noir, 715 St. Charles Ave., 581-5812. The series continues, this time weighing the case against Hamlet for murder, as he pleads innocent due to temporary insanity. Stars Tony Molina as Hamlet, Dane Rhodes as Horatio, Andrea Molina as Ophelia, real lawyers and real judges, with the audience acting as jury. Produced by Kara Hadigan, Dane Rhodes and Michael Sullivan. This performance is a dress rehearsal; admission is free. Performance 8 p.m. Tuesday.

SHIM SHAM REVUE. Shim Sham Club, 615 Toulouse St., 739-4037. Burlesque performance features the Southern Jeze-Belles, Ronnie Magri's Shim Sham Revue Band, MC Joe E. Merlot and guest performers Debbie Davis and Becky Allen. Theme: "America: A Broad History," honoring America's female heroes. Tickets $17 advance, $20 at door. Sundays at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

TRUST FUND BABIES. The Pickery, 333 Orange St., 263-5542. Comedy centered on the musings and strange hobbies of a well-to-do circle of friends. Written and directed by R.J. Tsarov, starring Gary Rucker, Veronica Russell, Diana Shortes, Jonathan Frick, Travis Acosta, Wild Bill Dykes and Raphaelle. Tickets $12, pay-what-you-can this Sunday. Performances 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday, through Nov. 17.

VISITING MR. GREEN. Southern Repertory Theatre, Shops at Canal Place, third floor, 835-6002. Dramatic comedy detailing the relationship of two men in New York City.
