THIRD ANNUAL CULTURAL EXCHANGE WEEK. Various locations, 821-6407. Damon J. Batiste and the New Orleans South Africa Connection present a week of activities connecting the culture, art, music, business and politics of New Orleans and South Africa. Events include a "Doing Business with South Africa" forum with three prominent South African musicians from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton (921 Canal St.). A fundraiser will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at The Ritz-Carlton with South African wine, Louisiana food, and a fashion show hosted by Miss South Africa. CHAKAIA BOOKER. Dillard University, Stern Hall Ampitheater, Room 112, 816-4448. New York-based sculptor Chakaia Booker, whose works have appeared in the last Whitney Biennial, will present her latest works in a slide presentation. Free admission. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

LOUISIANA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA. Orpheum Theatre, 127 University Place, 523-6530. Part of the LPO's Beethoven and Blue Jeans series, concert with program titled "Psalm of Peace" features conductor Klauspeter Seibel, soprano Ellen Frohnmayer and violinist Augustin Hadelich performing works by Beethoven, Sibelius and Dankner. Local nonprofit New Orleans Cares presents the second annual Serve-A-Thon, intended to attract volunteers to join New Orleans Cares' 700-plus volunteers for community service in a variety of public service projects. All volunteers invited to post-party, T-shirts $20. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

RIVERTOWN BIKE FUN RIDE. La Salle's Landing at Williams Boulevard, Kenner, 468-7231. Bike ride for riders of all ages and skill along the levee bike path with trip distances of six miles or 16 miles, with pasta from Messina's, safe-biking demonstrations and health tips. Single registration $5, family registration $10. Registration 9 a.m., rides begin 9:30 a.m.

ART RAFFLE BENEFIT. Children's Hospital auditorium, 200 Henry Clay Ave., 896-9375. Artist Edna Hibel, known for multi-media depictions of women and children, will exhibit and raffle her art, with proceeds benefiting Children's Hospital. Fifth annual benefit for Belle Reve, a nonprofit providing assisted-living services to families and individuals with HIV and/or AIDS, with theme "Beautiful Spirits Fulfilling Beautiful Dreams." MEALS ON WHEELS BENEFIT. Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 921 Canal St., 821-4121. Benefit for Meals on Wheels/New Orleans Fund, which works to deliver nutritious meals to the homebound elderly, with food from 18 area chefs, silent and live auctions, music by Jubilation, and celebrity hosts Angela Hill and Frank Davis. Black tie. Tickets $100 per person for the gala, $150 for gala and pre-gala reception, $250 for gala and patron party to be held Thursday at a private residence. 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
