2001 Penfolds Rawson's Retreat Chiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon
Australia $7-$10
First released in 1995 as an introductory-level
wine for Penfolds, this wine reflects the company's multi-regional blending from
premium fruit grown in McLaren Vale, Barossa and Coonawarra. The wine offers fresh
berries and spice aromas tinged with herbal notes and black currant before giving
way to more berries and dark plum on the palate with spicy black pepper and subtle
hints of oak on the finish. Great with pasta, pizza, lamb and burgers. Available
at Whole Foods Market, Meme's Market, Zara's Food Store, Terranova Bros. Superette,
Robert's Fresh Market at Robert E. Lee. Sav-A-Center on Tchoupitoulas, Eckerd's
on Carrollton Avenue, Dorignac's, Langenstein's Metairie store, Rouse's in Metairie,
Old Metairie Wines and Gifts, Breaux Mart in Metairie, Winn-Dixie in Kenner and
River Ridge, Acquistapace's Covington Super Market, Albertson's in Covington,
Pontchartrain Fresh Foods in Slidell and Wine Down and Sav-A-Center in Mandeville.
