Lip Tickler
Every Thursday from now until March 3, Zoe Bistrot (W Hotel, 333 Poydras St., 207-5018) is sampling champagnes from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., an event called Tickle My Lips (you big brut). The $15 flight featuring Bollinger, Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart and Piper Heidsick includes appetizers. Additional glasses cost $7, and the champagne flights are also offered during Sunday brunch for $12.

Sporting Affair
A new NBA team in town offers more excuses for hanging around sports bars and gathering to eat with friends before or after a game. The folks at Smith & Wollensky were all over that when they opened Doc Smith's Lounge (1009 Poydras St., 561-0528), an upscale sports bar (or lounge) with three flat-screen televisions, seating for 150 people and casual food from Smith & Wollensky's Chef Robert Bruce. The menu includes specialty cocktails, savory beignets, pizzas, po-boys, muffalettas, chocolate cheesecake lollipops and cigars. Doc Smith's is open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

Reveling in Reveillon
Dec. 1 marked the start of this year's Reveillon dinners, adaptations of long-ago Creole holiday feasts served through the end of the month. The four- or five-course meals are priced between $21.95 and $54 (Gumbo Shop and Rib Room are the bookends), many including cafe brulot, eggnog or wine. Participating restaurants are Andrea's ($35), Arnaud's ($41), Begue's ($39), Bombay Club ($40-$44), Bourbon House ($32), Brennan's ($45), Broussard's ($32.50-$35.50), Chateaubriand Steakhouse ($45), Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse ($44), Galatoire's ($43-$47), Grill Room ($45), Gumbo Shop ($21.95), Hunt Room Grill ($36-$42), Louis XVI Restaurant Francais ($38-$40), The Manor Room at Harrah's Casino ($42.99), Midi South of France ($45), Muriel's Jackson Square ($28.50), Palace Cafe ($38), Pat O's Courtyard Restaurant ($24.95), Pelican Club ($37-$42), Rene Bistrot ($38), Rib Room ($54), Royal Cafe ($35), Sazerac ($37), Tujague's ($29.95), Upperline Restaurant ($38), The Veranda ($38.50), and Zoe Bistrot ($40). Call restaurants for reservations, or log on to www.christmasneworleans.com for more information.

Square Deal
Along with the Reveillon dinner, Muriel's Jackson Square (801 Chartres St., 568-1885) is celebrating the season with lunchtime caroling. The St. Martin's School student choir will perform this Friday; the New Orleans Blend professional choir will sing on the following Thursday and Friday, Dec. 19 and 20.

Season's Greeting
Charley G's
(111 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, 837-6408) is also in the spirit, offering free $25 gift certificates with the purchase of $100 in gift certificates.
