Duval-LeRoy Brut Champagne, Non-Vintage
Vertus, France
$20-$26

'Tis the season for celebration and festivity, and what beverage better to enjoy these special occasions with family and friends than champagne -- effervescent in the glass, tingling on the tip of your nose, and bursting on the palate with a crisp, spritzy one-of-a-kind sensation! The family-owned, 142-year-old Duval-Leroy produces a half-dozen classically elegant champagnes. The non-vintage brut -- the house champagne of August and Peristyle restaurants -- is a blend of 75 percent Pinot Noir and 25 percent Chardonnay grapes, with an appealing toasty edge, citrus and appley flavors and a refreshing acidity in the finish. Enjoy with smoked salmon, duck pate, caviar, crabmeat, shrimp and lobster dishes. Available at Dorignac's, Martin Wine Cellar Uptown, Elio's Wine Warehouse, Antonio's Wine Cellar on the West Bank, Sav-A-Center on Tchoupitoulas Street, The Wine Seller and the new Chateau Wine Cellars and Cafe on Williams Boulevard., corner of 39th Street in Kenner.
