Local food writers and radio personalities John DeMers and Rhonda Findley are compiling recipes for an upcoming cookbook, The 100 Greatest New Orleans Recipes of All Time. Party on a Full Stomach

The following restaurants guarantee that you'll ring in 2003 fat and happy. Call immediately, as reservation books are bound to fill quickly. All prices are per person. The Bombay Club (830 Conti St., 586-0972) is offering a five-course meal, including wine with dinner and champagne at midnight, plus entertainment and party favors, for $125. Muriel's (801 Chartres St., 568-1885) is throwing an eight-course soiree with wine pairings and live entertainment for $175. At Cafe Degas (3127 Esplanade Ave., 945-5635), you can eat at 6 p.m. for $58 ($75 with wine) or join the 9:30 p.m. seating for $65 ($80 with wine); Chef Stephen Hassinger's seven-course special menu is the same during both time slots. At Cobalt (333 St. Charles Ave., 565-5595), the party begins and ends when you want it to, and you can order as much -- or little -- from the kitchen and bar as you please; entertainment provided by Heather and the Monkey King. Marisol (437 Esplanade Ave., 943-1912) will serve dinner from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; late diners may join Chef Pete on the patio at midnight. Seatings at Herbsaint (701 St. Charles Ave., 524-4114) are at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.; six courses cost $75, with an optional wine pairing for an additional $45. The $75 four-course menu (an extra $40 buys wine pairings) served all night at GW Fins (808 Bienville St., 581-3467) includes a glass of champagne, boas for women and hats for men. Morton's of Chicago (365 Canal St., 566-0221) is offering its regular menu, as well as party favors, with seatings at 5:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Cafe Indo (216 N. Carrollton Ave., 488-0444) offers seven French and Asian-inspired courses for $70. The Grill Room (300 Gravier St., 522-1992) will serve a multi-course menu from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for $75; or come between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. for dinner and dancing to the music of Leah Chase for $145. Nearby, August Restaurant (301 Tchoupitoulas St., 299-9777) is offering six courses for $120, and Chef Willie Coln is cooking at the Veranda (444 St. Charles Ave., 525-5566) on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, when the buffet costs $31 for adults and half that for children.
