Hungry Like the Wolfe
Chef Tom Wolfe at Wolfe's of New Orleans (7224 Ponchartrain Blvd., 284-6004) is softening a splurge at lunch, offering three courses for $14.95. The price includes coffee or tea but not tax or tip. Not in a hurry to return to work? Stick around for $1 Ketel One martinis. Early birds with dinner reservations between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday are rewarded with a complimentary bottle of wine and two-for-one cocktails.

Class in Session
The spring season for Savvy Gourmet's hands-on cooking classes, held select weeknights from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., began last week at Lulu's (307 Exchange Alley, 525-2600). Hands-on classes cost $60 for one, $110 for two, and include all the food you prepare. For information or to reserve space for classes such as "From Paris to Provence" and "Food for Lovers," log on at www.savvy-gourmet.com or call Peter at 482-3726. Demonstration classes held in conjunction with the Jefferson Parish Parks and Recreation Department at Mike Miley Playground begin this week. Join chefs including Jared Tees from Bourbon House (144 Bourbon St., 522-0111) and Clint Whittemore from Mat & Naddie's (937 Leonidas St., 861-9600) on select Mondays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All demonstration classes are $20 and include samples. Private Dining
Experience Bombay Club's (830 Conti St., 586-0972) new private dining facility -- a restored 1840s townhouse -- during a six-course Castello Banfi wine dinner this Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $95 per person, which includes wine with each course, tax and tip.

The Grapevine
Martin Wine Cellar (3827 Baronne St., 899-7411; 714 Elmeer Ave., 896-7300) is rolling through its 2003 evening wine-tasting schedule. Try eight Australian Shiraz at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday for $27; join guest hosts from Elk Grove Vineyards and Domaine Serene for "Great Wines from Oregon" next Wednesday, Feb 5, at 6:30 p.m. For the ongoing schedule log on at wwwmartinwine.com. Swinging Single
Consider Single Gourmet's $48 dinner at Andrea's (3100 19th St., Metairie, 834-8583) this Friday. Cash bar opens at 6:30 p.m.; dinner is at 7:30 p.m. Call 885-1831.
