The Bagel Factory's St. Charles Avenue location has closed its doors, so Uptown
devotees may have to make the pilgrimage to the 100-percent kosher Metairie location.
There they'll find the full range of bagels and breads, made fresh daily, and
plenty of lox and specialty cream cheeses. Dessert offerings include hamantashen,
a Jewish sweet, and kosher chocolate chip cookies. No reservations. Breakfast,
lunch and early dinner weekdays, breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday. Checks.

While Bayou Bagelry remains known for having New York-style bagels and housemade
cream cheeses of all flavors, it also has a number of healthy sandwiches, such
as the Rhythm and Blues Roast Beef and an Executive Club, both made with ultra-lean
meats. The diverse menu also offers favorites such as the chicken cordon bleu
and Caesar salad. No reservations. Breakfast and lunch weekdays at the Gravier
