IGOR'S
2133 St. Charles Ave. 522-2145
Igor's is a sort-of Chucky Cheese for grown-ups, with video games, dart boards, foosball and pool tables to play with, as well as laundry facilities for those feeling slightly responsible. Chow down on an Igor Burger while you're watching your clothes tumble dry; the burger comes doused in Cajun or barbecue sauce and is served with steak fries. Free red beans cooked with honey-baked ham are served on Monday beginning at 7 p.m. No reservations. Open 24 hours. Credit cards. $
IGOR'S BUDDHA BELLY BURGER BAR
4437 Magazine St. 891-6105
Like the rest of Igor's establishments, the Buddha Belly treats you to red beans and rice on Monday starting at 7 p.m. (they last until they're gone). If you miss the beans, you can always get a half-pound Cajun, barbecue or cheese burger. Do your laundry in the back room and swill down a few beers while you wait. No reservations. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night daily. Credit cards. $
IGOR'S CHECK POINT CHARLIE
501 Esplanade Ave. 949-7012
Check Point Charlie duplicates the winning formula of Igor's other establishments with pool tables and 24-hour laundry facilities, but it adds live music to the mix. The Charlie Burger is a half-pound of charbroiled sirloin served with a choice of sauces and cheeses. Once again, come at 7 p.m. Monday for free red beans and rice, and don't expect them to last too long. No reservations. Open 24 hours. Credit cards. $
IGOR'S GARLIC CLOVE
2135 St. Charles Ave. 522-6602
While for many Igor's means early-morning Bloody Marys on the patio facing The Avenue, the kitchen also offers a full range of local flavors. A top lunch item is the Cajun seafood pasta salad, served cold with calamari, shrimp, scallops and bow-tie pasta. The Fruit Di Mare is a boatload of clams, shrimp, crawfish and crab legs over pasta. Or try the chef's specialty, baked redfish with crawfish sauce. No reservations. Lunch and dinner daily. Credit cards. $
IMPASTATO'S
3400 16th St., Metairie 455-1545
www.impastatos.com
Chef-owner Joe Impastato has been in the business for 20-plus years and masterfully creates an exquisite five-course meal. Begin with a choice of crawfish au gratin, shrimp scampi or crab fingers, followed by a pasta ascuitto and fettuccine Alfredo combination, then a salad du jour and, of course, the entree. Selections include trout, veal Mora, or perhaps pecan-smoked filet mignon. And, always, dessert. All this for less than $30. Reservations recommended. Dinner Tuesday through Saturday, late-night Friday and Saturday. Credit cards. $$
