2000 Jacob's Creek Reserve Shiraz
South Australia $10-$14
Always a good value, Jacob's Creek produced this Reserve blend of Shiraz fruit from grapes grown in southern Australia's premier vineyards in Coonawarra, McLaren Vale, Barossa, Claire Valley and Padthaway districts. Aged in separate batches in oak casks for 18 to 22 months, the wine was blended to maximize flavor concentration, extract levels and an even tannin structure. A well-balanced wine with intense aromas of ripe plum, black pepper, fruit spice and toasty oak, the wine offers spicy plum and chocolate on the palate with undertones of cedar and vanillan oak. Excellent with rack of lamb, roast beef, venison and pepper-crusted meats. Available at Sidney's Wine Cellar, Martin Wine Cellar-Uptown, Dorignac's, Cellars of River Ridge, Wine and Liquor Outlet in Kenner, Habano's of Slidell and Acquistapace's Covington Super Market.
