Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge, Pearl River Turnaround exit 11 off I-59, (985) 882-2000. Ninth annual fishing event for children ages 4-12, designed to introduce children to nature in a wildlife refuge. Participants provided T-shirt, rod-and-reel and lunch. Registration $10; all children must be accompanied by adult. 7 a.m. to noon.

HELPING HANDS DAY. Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, I-10 exit 244 at Read Boulevard, 246-5672. Volunteer event to repair and clean the buildings and grounds of Audubon Louisiana Nature Center. Red beans and rice lunch provided. 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

WETLANDS CAMP 2003.
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center, 314 St. Mary St., Thibodaux, (985) 448-1375. Four summer camp sessions for children ages 10-11 teaching history, culture and environment with hands-on learning and activities. Materials fee $25 per person; camps open to first 25 to register. Camps held June 9-13, June 23-27, July 14-18 and July 28-August 1; each camp runs 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.

SUMMER CHORAL FESTIVAL. University of New Orleans, Performing Arts Center, room 102, 488-5974. The New Orleans Children's Chorus presents 11th annual week of chorus sessions culminating in final concert. Open for children having completed second grade and under 14. Tuition fee $60, includes T-shirt. Session held 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday; final concert 7 p.m. Friday June 13.

Fans can be dropped off at any location, monetary donations also needed.
