2000 Torres Coronas
Catalonia, Spain
$8-$12

Produced by the fourth generation of one of Spain's most prominent wine families, Torres Coronas is a blend of 86 percent Tempranillo and 14 percent Cabernet Sauvignon. In fact, the Torreses deserve credit for introducing international grape varieties to plant alongside indigenous fruit in the Catalonia region along the eastern Mediterranean coast. Aged nine months in American oak, the wine shows nuances of dark cherry, liquorice and spicy oak in the bouquet with plummy, berry, leathery notes on the palate. Good with paella, roasted meats, casseroles and cheese. Available at Sav-A-Centers, A&P in Terrytown, Robert's Fresh Market on Robert E. Lee Blvd., Union Super Market, Matassa's Market, Unique General Store, Joe's French Quarter Wine Cellar, Dorignac's, Rouse's on Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Metairie, Cellars of River Ridge and Albertson's in Belle Chasse.
