WINE OF THE WEEK By Brenda Maitland 09 30 03

2000 Jadot Pinot Noir Bourgogne
France
$12-$16

Elegant, but rarely aloof. Power, balanced with finesse. Complex, yet accessible. Young or aged, it's both subtle and dramatic. The description may sound like a special someone but it actually fits Pinot Noir rather aptly. Fragrant with ripe red cherry and a distinctive earthy quality with a core of sweet berry fruit, the well-structured wine is silky and harmonious with soft, rounded tannins. Good with grilled salmon, tuna, veal, chicken, beef, grilled vegetables and cheese. Available at most Sav-A-Center and Winn-Dixie locations, Lakeview Fine Foods, Canal Boulevard Super Market, Robert's on Robert E. Lee Boulevard and West Esplanade and St. Claude avenues, Dorignac's, Zuppardo's Family Super Market, Breaux Mart on Severn Avenue, Langenstein's (Metairie), Sam's Clubs and Habano's of Slidell.
