2001 Tiziano Chianti
Tuscany, Italy $5-$9
Quite quaffable, and certainly reasonably priced, this is a good entry-level selection for wine enthusiasts wishing to learn more about Italian wines. Tiziano Chianti is predominantly Sangiovese with a small amount (8 percent) of Caniolo to provide a smooth texture. Violet-scented, with red berry notes, the wine has a rich, plummy character. A versatile wine, it pairs well with pasta, red-sauce dishes, sausages, grilled meats and pizza. Available at most Winn-Dixies, Elio's Wine Warehouse, Cork & Bottle, Sidney's Wine Cellar, Robert's Fresh Market on Robert E. Lee Boulevard, Dorignac's, Cellars of River Ridge, Byblos Market, Acquistapace's Covington Super Market, Louisiana Star and Wine Down in Mandeville.
