2001 Kirralaa Bushvine Shiraz
Australia $11-$15
Yet another Robert Mondavi joint venture, this time with Australia's Rosemount, produced this beautifully balanced, fruit-forward, high-quality wine. Made from 100 percent Shiraz, the fruit was sourced primarily from old vines in Coonawarra, with smaller percentages from Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Margaret River. Concentrated aromas and bright fruit flavors offer red plum, cherry, and currant with hints of pepper, chocolate and spice. Good complexity and acidity. Drink now and over the next two to three years. Enjoy with roasted and grilled meats, grilled fish and hearty stews and casseroles. Available at Whole Foods Market (Magazine Street), Sidney's Wine Cellar, Acquistapace's Covington Supermarket, Habano's of Slidell, Hugh's Wine Cellar and Wine Down, both in Mandeville.
