2000 Baron Philippe de Rothschild Mouton Cadet (Rouge)
Bordeaux, France
$7-$10

An entry-level, value-priced Bordeaux blend created by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in the 1930s, the best-selling Mouton Cadet is one of the world's favorite wines in its class. Bordeaux's much-heralded 2000 vintage has produced wines of uncommon complexity and harmony, which is another reason to grab this wine while you can. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this well-structured wine offers intense aromas of blackberry and cassis with red berry fruit flavors and rounded tannins. Good with meats, fowl and game. Available at most Sav-A-Centers, Winn-Dixies, Robert's Markets, Rouse's, Rite Aid, Martin Wine Cellar, Meme's, Elio's, Prytania Liquor Store, Lakeview Fine Foods, Dorignac's, Albertson's, Langenstein's (Metairie), Breaux Mart and Acquistapace's Covington Super Market.
