2002 Kim Crawford Dry Riesling
Marlborough, New Zealand
$13-$16
This excellent Riesling from the exceptional Kim Crawford winery in New Zealand is as well made as its superb Sauvignon Blanc. A blend of grapes from two Marlborough vineyards, the fruit provides different flavor profiles to add complexity. Growing conditions were optimal with cool, later-ripening crops, thinned to ensure full ripeness and intense varietal character. The noble Riesling grape's traditional honey and citrus aromas are evident, with ginger and spice undertones. On the palate the full-bodied wine is refreshingly dry with balanced acidity, offering intense flavors of citrus, stone fruit and honey. Good with delicate seafood dishes, cream soups and fruit-based desserts. Available at The Wine Seller, Elio's Wine Warehouse and Sidney's Wine Cellar.
