2001 Chateau de Lacarelle Beaujolais
Villages France $7-$10
Beaujolais Nouveau festivities during the traditional release in the third week of November often tend to overshadow some excellent Beaujolais Villages and Cru wines that are available year round and pair especially well with Thanksgiving fare. The Chateau de Lacarelle is among a special group of Beaujolais' designated Louisiana Purchase wines in celebration of the bicentennial. This fresh, light-bodied 100 percent Gamay wine offers fragrant aromas of cherries, violets, strawberries and raspberries, followed by rich, red juicy-fruit flavors in a harmonious, supple and well-structured blend. Good with turkey, baked ham, yams, and all the trimmings. Available at both Whole Foods Market locations, Fortissimo, The Wine Seller, Cellars of River Ridge and Acquistapace's Covington Market.
