2002 Benziger Carneros
Chardonnay California $9-$14
Much of the best California Chardonnay is produced from grapes grown in cool areas such as Carneros, the tiny vine-covered region just 40 miles north of San Francisco crisscrossing the southern portions of both Napa and Sonoma. A supple, full-bodied, crisp wine featuring apple, toast and hazelnut aromas with flavors of fig, pineapple, vanilla and cedar notes. Good with trout amandine, crabcakes and shellfish dishes. Available at Meme's Market, most Sav-A-Centers, Robert's Fresh Markets, Prytania Liquor Store, both Martin Wine Cellar locations, Dorignac's, Langenstein's, Antonio's Wine Cellar, Rouse's Super Market, Cellars of River Ridge, Acquistapace's Covington Super Market, Wine Down, Rouse's and Albertson's in Slidell and Covington.
