1999 Ramon Bilbao
Rioja, Spain
$10-$12
Grapes for this wine were sourced from 100 percent Tempranillo grapes from 70-year old vines in Spain's premier growing area: Rioja. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for 24 months in new, small French barriques with a medium to high toast. Complex aromas reminiscent of dried plums, exotic woods, graphite and mineral notes precede dark fruit and spice flavors with oaky undertones. Decant with care as some sediment may be deposited due to the lack of fining and filtering. Good with roast or grilled meats, pasta dishes, stews, fowl and game. Available at The Wine Seller, Cork & Bottle, Sidney's Wine Cellar, Vieux Carré Wine and Spirits, Dorignac's and Hugh's Wine Cellar in Mandeville.
