Alex Rawls Joins Gambit Weekly
Gambit Weekly is pleased to announce that Alex Rawls has joined the paper to serve as music editor. Rawls, who was raised in Houston and Ontario, moved to New Orleans in 1987 to pursue a master's degree in English at the University of New Orleans. "Going to school was a good excuse to move here," says Rawls, who began writing about local music in 1997 as a contributor to OffBeat magazine. Rawls' career in education includes 13 years at Delgado Community College, where he was an associate professor of English. In addition to writing columns on books and rock music for OffBeat, Rawls has contributed to Time Out: New Orleans and Jazze.com, as well as books on science and Southern poetry. Rawls can be contacted at alexr@gambitweekly.com.
