1999 Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon
Colchagua, Chile
$9-$12
Los Vascos was one of the earliest Chilean wineries to import French grapes from Bordeaux. Half owned by Lafite Rothchild, the property was selected for its excellent qualities following an exhaustive search. Located in Chile's central zone, the property is far from the sea with a perfect microclimate, northern exposure and built-in protection with its natural geographic boundaries. Made from 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, the well-balanced, well-structured wine offers cassis aromas with flavors of black currants, smoky nuances and olive undertones. Decant. Good with beefsteak, roast venison, duck breast, and other hearty dishes. Available at The Wine Seller, Cost Plus World Markets in Elmwood and Belle Chasse and Cellars of River Ridge.
