Along with last year's renovation, Kabby's renovated its menu as well. Soon-to-be favorites include the sesame yellowfin tuna appetizer and the chicken grillades and grits consisting of pan roasted chicken breast with grillades sauce, Romano cheese, polenta cakes and roasted bell peppers. KABBY'S SPORTS EDITION & GRILLE

Sports fans can park themselves on the comfy chairs surrounding Kabby's 52 TV sets and enjoy tasty bar food such as burgers, wings, and shrimp and oyster po-boys. Kabby's now serves wine, and patrons can order panini sandwiches and other menu items from the restaurant next door (when it's open). Lunch and dinner daily. Credit cards. $

KANNO SUSHI

Kanno offers traditional Japanese dishes from classic tempura to exotic grilled eel. Most requested is the popular Kaiseki ³feed me² special, with four appetizers followed by the chef's choice of entree and sushi rolls. Not to be missed is the Lobster Dynamite, a baked lobster tail filled with fresh snow crab and served with wake-up-the taste-buds dynamite sauce. Reservations recommended. This friendly Mid-City eatery is consistently full at lunchtime thanks to the vast sushi buffet, which now includes smoked eel, a wider variety of special rolls, and sashimi (in the evenings). This tucked-away cafe is family-friendly and boasts a variety of comfort-food menu items. KOKOPELLI'S

At this college-minded hangout tucked a block off S. Claiborne Avenue, try the house-conceived and recommended Karl's Happy Hot Burrito: a spinach tortilla filled with mung bean sprouts, steak, shrimp, green onions, brown rice, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, and Sriacha hot sauce. KOREA HOUSE

One of the very few places serving true Korean-style food, Korea House's house specialty is the Bibimbop, made with either ground beef or veggies. Served in a steaming stone pot, the dish includes a bed of rice, steamed vegetables, and an egg sunny-side up. Reservations recommended. Displaced Yankees aren't the only ones who feel at home in this deli, which recently enlarged its dining room to accommodate the crowds. The J&N signature sandwich is a deli favorite, with hot corned beef and pastrami on rye bread, dressed with mustard, horseradish and coleslaw and served with a juicy pickle. K-PAUL'S LOUISIANA KITCHEN

The menu changes daily at this Cajun cooking mainstay. A few regulars on the menu are the blackened twin beef tenders (two filet mignons served with the restaurant's famous debris sauce) and the bronzed salmon fillet served with fried oysters in a ³hot Fanny sauce² of roasted pecans, jalapenos, brown garlic butter and veal glaze. KRYSTAL'S

This chain restaurant stays open to welcome the bleary-eyed wanderers from Bourbon Street and offers classic diner fare to soak up the booze. The $2.99 breakfast special is available until 11 a.m. on weekdays, noon on weekends and offers three eggs cooked to order, bacon or sausage, hash browns or grits, and a biscuit or toast. Open 24 hours. Cash only. $

KYOTO

This Uptown establishment has a fierce following due to its exceptional sushi and sashimi combined with a laid-back ambience and cool staff. Select from a menu of Japanese beers or warm or cold sakes to complement your rolls perfectly. Try the Sara roll with spicy shrimp and avocado topped with crunchy chili sauce, made with brown rice if you're on Atkins or Sugarbusters. Reservations accepted. KYOTO II

Offering a fresh sushi buffet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with sushi, tempura, salads and gyozas, Kyoto II is no longer linked to the Uptown restaurant of the same name. Some of the best-selling rolls include the Rock N Roll, a sushi roll made with fried shrimp, or consider the crunchy and dynamite rolls. Reservations accepted.
