Easter Options

Whatever the holiday means to you -- whether you prance in after Mass or swagger in with pillow marks -- the following is a handful of restaurants open for brunch or lunch on Easter Sunday. Arnaud 's, Audubon Golf Clubhouse, Begue 's, Brennan 's, Bywater Bar-B-Que, Cafe Atchafalaya, Cafe Degas, Cafe Rani, Cafe Sbisa, Commander 's Palace, Dante 's Kitchen, House of Blues, LuLu 's in the Garden, Marigny Brasserie, Marisol, Mr. B 's, New Orleans Grill, Nirvana, Palace Cafe, Sugar Magnolia, Victor 's Grill and Zachary 's.

Through the Grapevine Among this week 's wine-and-dine events is a Rosemount Estate dinner beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday at Mr. John 's Steak & Seafood (2111 St. Charles Ave., 679-7697). The menu was still under construction at the time of this writing; five Rosemount wines will be poured. Members of Mr. John 's Wine & Dine Club get a discounted rate (anyone can join); the event costs $60 for everyone else.

More Grapes Then, beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, RioMar (800 S. Peters St., 525-3474) will host a sit-down tapas party highlighting wines and sherries from Osborne. The cost is $50.

Drop-In Business This week author-restaurateur Barbara Smith will visit Dooky Chase 's (2301 Orleans Ave., 821-0600) chef-proprietor Leah Chase during her television program, B. Smith With Style, which airs at 5 a.m. Saturdays on WDSU/Channel 6. B. Smith With Style is the longest-running syndicated half-hour lifestyle program hosted by an African-American woman.

Swimming in Crawfish Semolina 's annual ode to crawfish -- called &179;Get Some Tail Tonight&178; -- is in high season. Crawfish gumbo, crawfish bread, Thai curry crawfish, popcorn crawfish salad and crawfish au gratin are among the dishes offered for a limited time at all 16 Semolina restaurants.

Kudos for the Grill The Windsor Court 's New Orleans Grill (300 Gravier St., 523-6000) dispatched two news bytes this week. First, Pastry Chef Keegan Gerhard has been named one of the Ten Best Pastry Chefs of 2004 by Pastry Art & Design magazine. The June issue will include a feature article on Gerhard, as well as a photo and one of his recipes. Secondly, last Monday hotel management formally unveiled artist Auseklis Ozols ' mural of Jackson Square. One of three murals commissioned in conjunction with the restaurant 's recent overhaul, this one depicts past and contemporary local notables in the Square, including Sybil Morial, Lindy Boggs, former Gov. Mike Foster and City Council Member Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson.
