2000 Navarro Correas Cabernet Sauvignon
Mendoza, Argentina
$12-$14

Since 1798 the Navarro Correas family has been making quality wine in west central Argentina. In recent years, they have been among the wineries implementing modernization of viticultural practices, equipment and winemaking techniques with input from top-notch consultants. A blend of 82 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 percent Merlot and 8 percent Malbec, grapes were sourced from the foothills of the towering Andes. A full-bodied, supple wine, with cassis, black olive, oak and herbal aromas with ripe black berry fruit flavors. Good with rare steak, rack of lamb and aged cheddar. Available at Dorignac's, and on the Northshore at Reker's Wine Cellar and Habano's in Slidell and Wine Down in Mandeville. (Store listings current at presstime.)
