2002 Robert's Rock Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot
South Africa
$6-$7
Representing an excellent value from South Africa, grapes for this wine were sourced from the Western Cape. A fusion of 54 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 46 percent Merlot, the wine matured in oak for just two months before blending and bottling. Aromas of fresh juicy berries give way to rich, jammy, full fruit flavors with edges of pleasant earthiness. Medium-bodied, well balanced with an excellent structure and soft tannins. An easy-drinking wine that is enjoyable now but will last another two to three years. Good with roasted and grilled meats, barbecue, Italian and other hearty cuisine. Available at Cork & Bottle and Rouse's Market in Covington. (Store listings current at press time.)
