2002 Ravenswood Vintners Blend Shiraz
Southeastern Australia
$7-$11

In line with the label's credo, "No Wimpy Wines," Ravenswood's California winemaker went Down Under to produce this bold, fruit-forward wine in the classic Aussie style. Made from 97 percent Shiraz and 3 percent Cabernet and Grenache, the wine offers violet and spice bouquets with dark, ripe berry flavors and smoky notes. Good with roast meats and barbecue. Available at Sav-A-Centers, both Whole Foods Market locations, some Winn-Dixie locations, Meme's Market, Lakeview Fine Foods, Williams Supermarket, Zara's Supermarkets, Calhoun Superette, Robert's Fresh Markets on Annunciation Street and West Esplanade Avenue, Dorignac's, Langenstein's (Metairie location), Zuppardo's Family Super Market, Breaux Marts on Lapalco Boulevard and General Meyer Avenue, Piggly Wiggly in Westwego, Casey Jones Supermarket, and Acquistapace's Covington SuperMarket. (Store listings current at press time.)
