2002 Baron Heyl Riesling
Rheinhessen, Germany
$14-$16

For more than 200 years the Heyl family has cultivated vineyards on its estate in the historic wine village of Nierstein on the Rhine River. As pioneers in ecological viticulture, vintners made this wine from organically grown 100 percent Riesling grapes sourced from the estate's numerous vineyard sites to ensure consistent quality. Aromas and flavors of apricots and peaches stir the senses in this refreshing, elegant, complex wine with racy acidity balanced by a delicate sweetness. Finishes dry. Good paired with Asian and Indian cuisine or as an aperitif with hors d'oeuvres. Available at Whole Foods Market (Uptown), The Wine Seller, Bacchanal and Cellars of River Ridge. (Store listings current at press time.)
