Correction and Clarification:
In the feature “Saved and Sound” (Home Smart, Aug. 24), carpenter and contractor Wayne Helmick’s name was misspelled. Gambit Weekly regrets the error. Our Aug. 3 article “The District Attorney and Fred the Painter” prompted this clarification from Leatrice Dupré, a spokesperson for Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie Jordan, regarding the district attorney’s association with Fouaud “Fred” Zeton: “The original criminal complaints against Zeton were filed during the administration of predecessor Harry Connick. Zeton was contracted and paid to do work on Jordan’s home before Jordan took office in January 2003. Jordan recused himself and his office in September 2003 after Zeton and his attorney contacted the district attorney’s office in an attempt to re-negotiate the term of Zeton’s restitution agreement set during the Connick administration.”
