WINE OF THE WEEK By Brenda Maitland 09 07 04

2002 Vina Godeval
Spain
$11-$13

In the wine world, Spain is best known for its great reds and popular cavas, yet Spanish whites are winning well-deserved raves. Made from 100 percent Godello -- one of hundreds of white varietals throughout the country, the grapes were sourced from vineyards in Galicia's Valdeorras zone in northwestern Spain. Vibrant, well-structured and focused, the wine shows apple and citrus aromas with hints of honeysuckle. Integrated flavors of lime, grapefruit, minerals and a crisp acidity linger on the palate. Appealing as an aperitif. Good with seafood, chicken or turkey salad and paella. Available at both Whole Foods Markets locations, Bacchanal and both Martin Wine Cellars locations. (Store listings current at press time.)
