2002 Block 13 Pinot Noir Sonoma
Coast $16-$20
Now in its sixth generation of winemaking, the venerable Gundlach Bundschu winery broke new ground in Pinot Noir value and quality with Block 13. Although labeled "Sonoma Coast," grapes were sourced from premier vineyards in the region that overlaps Carneros and Russian River American Viticultural Areas. This blend of distinctive terroirs equals a wonderfully structured wine showing both finesse and elegance. Bursts of extracted sweet cherry and raspberry fruit are joined by nuances of well-integrated oak and spice. Good with grilled salmon, tuna and mushroom dishes. Available at Lakeview Fine Foods, Ferro's Supermarket, Langenstein's (Metairie location), Cellars of River Ridge and Acquistapace's Covington Super Market. (Store listings current at press time.)
