2001 Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) Tapestry
Reserve Napa, California $33-$40
This exceptional wine earns its "Reserve" designation by sourcing grapes from premier vineyards, including key blocks used for BV's top-rated Georges de Latour. A blend of 77 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 16 percent Merlot, 5 percent Petit Verdot and 2 percent Cabernet Franc, the wine yields aromas of dark fruit and coffee with subtle notes of oak, vanilla and anise. On the palate, expect a velvety texture with silky tannins and ripe plum, dark cherry and currant flavors. Drink now or cellar for six to 10 years. Good with grilled lamb, herbed chicken and steaks. Available at Martin Wine Cellar (Uptown location), Cellars' Market, Dorignac's, and in Mandeville at Cru Wine Boutique and Hugh's. (Store listings current at press time.)
