CARIBBEAN

MANGO HOUSE 8115 Jeannette St. 862-5848; www.mangohouserestaurant.com Chef Anne Lloyd recreates Caribbean cuisine with such items as a basket of sweet potato chips, a plate of savory empanadas filled with ground pork and a special rum cocktail. For a main course, the chef recommends the double cut grilled pork chop marinated in Jamaican jerk seasoning or the pepper pot, a sweet and spicy beef stew. No reservations. Dinner Tuesday through Sunday. Credit cards. $$

MARTINIQUE BISTRO 5908 Magazine St. 891-8495 The oven-roasted double-cut pork chop is coated with a whole grain mustard demi-glace and served with housemade choucroute. Jamaican Jerk seasoning and pineapple and pickle habanero vinaigrette bring some heat to the yellowfin tuna. Reservations recommended. Dinner nightly. Credit cards. $$
