2000 Chateau Greysac Cru Bourgeois
Medoc, France
$15-$21

An exceptional value from a great Bordeaux vintage, Greysac delivers consistent quality in this blend of 50 percent Merlot, 40 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 percent Petit Verdot. Look for sweet cassis, toasty oak and tobacco aromas, and plum, dark cherry, berry and vanilla flavors. Soft, medium-bodied with firm, finely grained tannins. Best to aerate an hour before drinking. Good with pork, duck and lamb. Available at Whole Foods Market (Esplanade Avenue), The Wine Seller, most Sav-A-Centers, Cork & Bottle, both Martin Wine Cellar location, Lakeview Fine Foods, some Winn-Dixies, Robert's on Canal Street, Vieux Carré Wine and Spirits, Sidney's Wine Cellar, Prytania Liquor, Langenstein's (Metairie location), Dorignac's, Breaux Mart-Gretna and Acquistapace's Covington Super Market. (Store listings current at press time.)
