There's a new place to relax and/or workout in town: Balance Spa & Fitness (Loews New Orleans Hotel, 530 S. Peters St., eighth floor, 595-5333). It opened Jan. 15 and incorporates a full-service spa with a state-of-the-art fitness center. Spa services include massages, facial, manicures, pedicures, hot tubs and saunas. The fitness facility provides personal training, an indoor swimming pool, cardiovascular and strength-building equipment. A grand opening event will be planned in the future as well as additional services and specials.

Handmade women's casual, business and evening clothing by Mack & Mack will be featured at a trunk show Friday and Saturday (Feb. 18-19) at Ballin's Ltd. (721 Dante St., 866-4367).

Ele Shoes and Accessories (3638 Magazine St., 309-8674) opened Uptown Jan. 24 and offers everything from stilettos to flats, as well as accessories. Shoe brands include Charles David, Laundry, Via Spiga, BCBG Girls, Guess and others. Watch for news about a grand opening celebration.
