C.B. Forgotston and Sean O'Keefe
both deserve credit for the reinstatement of Louisiana Boys and Girls State at Louisiana State University. The decision to cancel LSU¹s participation in the educational student program had been made before O¹Keefe became LSU chancellor late last month. Forgotston¹s one-man crusade to reinstate Boys and Girls State paid off when O¹Keefe reversed the decision.

Delgado Architecture/Design Tech students
last month placed third in The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) competition, tied with Texas A&M for 'The Outstanding National Student Chapter Award.' Sponsoring professor P. Victor Mirzai and 15 Delgado architectural students were presented with the award in Orlando, Fla. -- marking the first time a Louisiana institution was honored by NAHB.

a Mandeville company that produces aromatherapy products, had its products included in the extravagant gift bags given to Oscar nominees and other A-list celebrities invited to an Award Suites event at the Beverly Hilton for several days before the Oscars ceremony. Soothe Your Senses founder and president Gretchen Glapion Halpin uses traditions learned from her grandfather to produce the line of organic bath and body products.

The Orleans Parish School Board,
despite agreeing to an out-of-court settlement in 2002, has failed to pay a $500,000 judgment to a mentally impaired woman who in 1996, as a 15-year-old student at Carver Senior High, was gang-raped by nine male students. The victim needs her settlement money for expenses not covered by government aid. The board wants the woman to accept less money to expedite her claim.
