2003 Domaine des Coteaux des Travers Cuvee
Char a Vin
A great value from Southern Rhone, grapes for this estate-bottled wine were sourced from vines averaging 40 years old. The low yielding vineyards, rooted in limestone and clay soils, face a slightly southern exposure on the slopes in the little village of Rasteau. A blend of predominantly Grenache and Syrah, this medium-bodied wine sees no oak. Expect aromas of ripe black fruit and earth, with sweet red and black currants, spice and pepper on the palate. Good aging potential. Good with hearty soups, red beans with sausage and grilled meats. Available at Hopper's Wines and Spirits and Cellars of River Ridge. (Store listings current at press time.)
