Butler Hearing Re-Set

A hearing in connection with Gambit Communications Inc.'s lawsuit against Clerk of Criminal District Court Kimberly Williamson Butler, originally set for last Thursday, had to be rescheduled. But some paperwork did change hands.

Gambit sued Butler after she failed to honor several public records requests by the newspaper ("The Woman Behind the Curtain," March 15). The original request was made Oct. 5. Butler's office had turned over some records, but subsequent requests remain unfulfilled. Last Tuesday, Butler's office sent some additional records that had been requested by Gambit Weekly to Gambit attorney John Litchfield. According to an initial inventory, it appears that some of Gambit's demands have been satisfied -- but others remain unmet.

The March 17 court date was re-set because Butler's attorney, Deborah Wilson, had an out-of-town conflict. The case is now scheduled to be heard Wednesday, April 6, at 10 a.m. before Judge Lloyd Medley Jr., on the fourth floor of Civil District Court, Division D.
