YE OLDE COLLEGE INN
3016 S. Carrollton Ave. 866-3683 It still serves the oyster loaf advertised on the outside wall, but the nearly 75-year-old restaurant's 'Atkins friendly' catfish Manchac (broiled catfish with a crab and Brie sauce) shows that Ye Olde College Inn also keeps up with modern trends. Reservations recommended. Lunch daily, dinner Mon.-Sat., late-night Fri.-Sat., brunch Sun. Credit cards. $$
YO MAMA'S BAR & GRILL
727 St. Peter St. 522-1125 After kicking back a few of Yo Mama's 63 varieties of tequila, diners are ready to stare down the horns of the Bullfighter burger, loaded with jalapeños, avocado and salsa. Anyone with enough audacity to try the peanut butter bacon burger deserves a slap on the back from the King himself. No reservations. Lunch, dinner and late-night daily. Credit cards. $
YOUNG'S RESTAURANT
850 Robert Blvd., Slidell (985) 643-9331 There's no sign advertising the steaks and seafood at Young's Restaurant. 'We just go by word of mouth,' says Chef Craig Young. Speaking of mouth, diners often find theirs watering at the choice between the 8-oz. petit filet (served solo or with boiled shrimp, sauteed crabmeat or grilled shrimp) or the 14-oz. filet (served with a baked potato and a salad). No reservations. Dinner Tue.-Sat. Credit cards. $$$
