WINE OF THE WEEK By Brenda Maitland 04 19 05

2003 Dr. L Riesling
Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Germany
$13-$15

Fully ripened grapes from 60-year-old vines sourced from steep hillsides in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region were selected for this wine. An excellent vintage from one of the hottest, driest summers in 100 years produced wine with good fruit concentration, a bit more sweetness and lower acidity. A refreshing, clean, crisp wine, look for fresh peach and floral aromas with mineral notes and a citrusy, spritzy character on the palate. Serve well chilled. A delightful accompaniment with fish, shellfish, spicy Asian or Cajun cuisine, cream sauces, white meats and salty cheeses. Available at Vieux Carré Wine and Spirits, Whole Foods Market (Uptown), The Wine Seller, Dorignac's and Rouse's in Covington. (Store listings current at press time.)
