Jazz'n the Vines
We confess to being a superstitious lot around here, so forgive the folks at Pontchartrain Vineyards for believing in the power of music. Every year, the vineyard's Jazz'n the Vines series is presented to give the grapes some soothing music in the hopes of creating a bumper crop -- and some excellent wine in the process. It's one of the Northshore's favorite warm-weather traditions, as guests enjoy a comfortable setting for music, food and wine on the second and fourth Saturday of the month, through October, as the daylight gives way to twilight. This year features a new wrinkle, with a brass band parade snaking through the grounds to begin the proceedings. Craig Klein (pictured) will lead the inaugural parade and perform onstage. Regardless of whether you pack your own food, gourmet sandwiches will be available for purchase. Tickets $8.50. -- David Lee Simmons
6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14 Pontchartrain Vineyards, 81250 Hwy. 1082, north of Covington, (985) 892-9742
