Erica Spindler: Killer Takes All

By David Lee Simmons

Silly Stacy Killian. Someone should have told her you don't move to New Orleans for the 'quiet life.' Although the police detective from Erica Spindler's 2004 crime thriller, See Jane Die (MIRA), can be forgiven for fleeing Dallas for a new start in the Crescent City, there are just too many variables here to guarantee anything resembling the word 'normal.' So Killian learns in Killer Takes All when she learns of the murder of one of her neighbors, a UNO college student; her detective instincts kick in as she tries to solve the crime along with the local cops (of varying skill levels). Before she knows it, Killian gets sucked into the world of role-playing games such as 'White Rabbit' (hey, who doesn't around here?) Ñ but this game could be lethal. Spindler, who lives in New Orleans, initially made romance novels her stock and trade until she was bitten by the crime-thriller bug a few years ago. She's hooked, and so are her readers. She celebrates Wednesday's release of Killer Takes All with three signings this week and two more next week. Enjoy the game.
