WINE OF THE WEEK 06 21 05

Wine of the Week

By Brenda Maitland

2004 Chateau de Parenchere Bordeaux Clairet
Bordeaux, France
$15 -$18
Many of the best rosés are produced in southern France. This classy, dry rosé, introduced in the United States just last year, sold out in a heartbeat. Here's a chance to enjoy the latest vintage of this well-structured, balanced wine, a blend of 70 percent Merlot, 20 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 percent Cabernet Franc. Look for fragrant strawberry aromas, a distinguishing tart freshness, bright acidity, soft tannins and ripe red berry flavors. Serve chilled. A good accompaniment with many diverse dishes including fish, salads, roast chicken or grilled pork tenderloin as well as spicy cuisine. Available at Hopper's Wines and Spirits, The Wine Seller, Sidney's Wine Cellar and Bacchanal. (Store listings current at press time.)
