Art is Garbage : Art from Recycled Objects by New Orleans and New York Artists
It's highly unusual for a gallery to call its own art garbage, but the Green Project does just that in its Art is Garbage show at its new Green Room gallery. Dedicated to sustainable rebuilding, the Green Project really means it -- literally. Not only is the art crafted from discarded objects, the gallery itself is constructed from recycled materials. In addition to visual art, live music by an array of local musicians and cuisine courtesy of Bywater and Marigny restaurants will top off the festivities at the opening. Art is Garbage is a collaborative initiative between the students and faculty of the State University of New York at Purchase and the New Orleans Green Project's community arts program. -- D.
