If you've ever been shot, stabbed, bludgeoned, mauled or struck by a truck, chances are you ended up in the emergency room at Charity Hospital (before it was taken out by a certain storm). Nationally famous for excellence under pressure, Charity's trauma unit physicians were unsung heroes at home. When not treating gunshot wounds, Dr. Steve Lesser occasionally goes public in art shows such as this Big Top expo featuring his abstract metal sculptures and his Burlesque series of paintings of the Bourbon Street strippers of the 1950s and 1960s -- a nostalgic celebration of life in what he calls "an exploration of the kinetic sensuality of a bygone era." -- D.
