Last week a "singing" Gruner Veltliner was featured in this space. In this issue, a tuneful Red Guitar from Navarre in northeastern Spain takes center stage. A blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha (Grenache) grapes both come from 60 to 110-year-old vines tended by four generations of growers. In the glass, earthy, leathery, black fruit aromas emanate, followed by ripe black cherry, currant and blackberry on the palate. It's a big, full-bodied wine that will improve with multiple rounds of splash decanting. Drink now and over the next couple of years.
