Spring weather and Jazz Fest approaching means it's time to kick off the Young Leadership Council's free weekly after-work party in Lafayette Square. The free early evening concerts on Wednesdays throughout the spring and early summer draw CBD worker bees and concertgoers from all over town to enjoy the mini-festival. Besides sounds, the square is also packed with food and drink vendors (including Abita beer and several local restaurants) as well as local artisans selling handmade jewelry, photos, clothing and other crafts. The series kicks off this week with the funky rhythms of the Hot 8 Brass Band followed up by the Tex-Mex-influenced roots-rock of the Iguanas. Free. -- Alison Fenserstock
