Second Lineup

The Jazz Fest continues with another crowd-pleasing weekend of music.

by By Count Basiné, Will Coviello, Alison Fensterstock, Emily Hohenwarter, David Kunian, Noah Bonaparte Pais, David Lee Simmons, Michael Patrick Welch and Sam Winston

Count Basin is ready for seconds. A second big weekend at the Fair Grounds. A second helping of pheasant, quail and andouille gumbo and mango ice. A second line past the flag pole. A few more seconds of refreshment in the mist tent.

There may even be some second-guessing as there are again choices to be made. How can the Count get enough of the Dirty Dozen, Tony Joe White, John Boutte; and Amanda Shaw when their sets overlap on Friday afternoon? Or Saturday's synchronous scheduling of Donald Harrison, Deacon John, the Allman Brothers and the Gangbe Brass Band of Benin. And as always, the Jazz Fest closes with a stunning flourish. Harry Connick Jr., the Radiators, Taj Mahal, BeauSoleil and an amazing jam in the jazz tent all provide the final shows on the various stages.

With all of the food, music, parades, dancing and cultural offerings awaiting, the Count moves that we adjourn to the Fair Grounds. Do I hear a second?
