Lingerie and novelty shop Jolie Secret (4224 Magazine St., 896-1020) is offering shoppers a little something extra this month — a complimentary red rose with any purchase during November.

Italian deli and marketplace Just Italy (708 Aris Ave., Metairie, 832-9292) will host a series of cooking classes that teach Italian cuisine fundamentals, history and techniques presented by local culinary historian, lecturer and author Sandra Scalise Juneau. The classes are $30 per person and will be held on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. (Nov. 14, Dec. 5, Dec. 19). Call the store to reserve your spot.

Two more banks are showing signs of recovery after Hurricane Katrina. In Lakeview, Capital One has reopened a renovated and expanded branch at 7033 Canal Blvd. That's more than twice its pre-Katrina size. In New Orleans East, Fidelity Homestead Savings Bank (5530 Crowder Blvd.) has just reopened its drive-thru for customers' added convenience.

Last month, Cabela's (225-743-3400), the outdoor gear superstore, opened a new shop in the Baton Rouge area at 2654 S. Sportsman Lane in Gonzales. Shoppers can enjoy a museum-quality diorama, the two-story Conservation Mountain, a 49,000-gallon aquarium, a restaurant, an indoor archery range, a world-class gun library, a boat showroom and maintenance shop.
